There was a life 有一种生活

Was there before 之前有

But somehow here upon this night 但不知何故，这里在这个夜晚

It now means more 现在它意味着更多

   

And all those words 而所有这些单词

She tried to say 她想说

I've now forgotten 我现在已经忘了

Or they've somehow slipped away 或者他们已经莫名其妙地溜走了

   

And in this darkness 而在这黑暗

Is there salvation 有没有得救

Is there forgiveness 有没有宽恕

For hesitation 犹豫

   

Can someone tell me 谁能告诉我

Can someone say when 有人会说，当

The writer of this story 这个故事的作家

Will just tell us how it all will end 只是告诉我们，这一切将如何结束

   

And somewhere on this night 和地方在这个夜晚

There's a wave on the ocean 有一个关于海洋波浪

That crashes on shores 说死机就海岸

Where no one can see 如果没有人能看到

   

The tides and the currents 潮汐和水流

Decide every motion 确定每一个动作

From where they are now 从那里，他们现在

To where they will be 到那里它们将

   

It cradles them all 它摇篮他们都

For they all are its children 因为他们都是它的孩子

If one drop disappears 如果一滴消失

It is instantly missed 这是瞬间错过

   

And after each wave 而每一波后

Has joined up with the shoreline 已经加入了海岸线

It returns to the sea 它返回大海

For that is its one wish 因为这是它的一个愿望

   

There was a light 有一个光

Was there before 之前有

But in the darkness of this night 但在这个夜晚的黑暗

It now means more 现在它意味着更多

   

To be so close 如此接近

To be so near 如此近

To see the water there within 看到水中有内

A young child's tear 一个年轻的孩子的泪

   

And in our blindness 而在我们的盲目性

Do we move onward 难道我们向前向前

And cling to the lies 并坚持谎言

That we have harbored 我们怀有

   

We could not admit 我们可以不承认

We were mistaken 我们错了

Are you scared of your life 你害怕你的生活

Are you scared of your death 你害怕你死

Though that day will arrive 虽然那一天会到来

Well it hasn't come yet 那么它还没来

As for all those mistakes 对于所有那些错误

That you've made in your life 您在生活中所做的

Must they stay as they are 要他们留，因为它们是

Or can we make them right 或者，我们可以让他们的权利

   

On this night take my hand 在这个夜晚牵着我的手

Keep me near keep me close 让我靠近让我靠近

And if I should die first 如果我先死

Could I not be your ghost 我能不能成为你的鬼

   

But if later in life 但是，如果在以后的生活
