ABSTRACT In this thesis, the microstructure, the in situ tensile fracture processes and the mechanism of deformation and fracture of the SiC whisker reinforced aluminium composites made by a squeeze casting method were studied by means of SEM, TEM, HVEM, AES, HREM, electronic tensile machine and magnetic tape recorder. The dislocation theory and the complex function method were also used during analysis.
