Hsüopsida is parallel to the above three plant categories in Early Devonian and differs from them in that: the trimerophytes or Euphyllophytina have long fusiform sporangia terminating in trusses and P-type tracheids; the zosterophytes or Lycophytina are characterized by the exarch xylem; the rhyniophytes bear simple isotomous branches and S-type tracheids.
