In this study, the northern catchment of the research site was selected. The main vegetation types included pine woodland, meadow, ecotone between hemlock forest and meadow, hemlock forest, ecotone between hemlock and spruce forest, and spruce forest.

本研究样区为塔塔加鞍部北面集水区，包括各植群与其相邻的推移带：二叶松疏林区、草原区、草原与铁杉森林推移带、铁杉森区、铁杉与云杉林推移带及云杉森林区，并於所规划集水区外选取两参考样点：二叶松森林与麟趾山草原区。

These vegetation types are (1) Yushania niitakayamensis thicket (2) Juniperus squamata-Rhododendron pseudochrysanthum thicket (3) Abies Kawakamii forest (4) Tsuga chinensis forest (5) Abies Kawakamii-Tsuga chinensis forest (6) Picea morrisonicola forest (7) Chamaecyparis formosana forest (8) Pinus taiwanensis forest and (9) Evergreen broad-leaved forest.

Vegetation zones and 10 vegetation types were classified using TWINSPAN and DCA: Bischofia javanica‐Machilus japonica var. kusanoi type on Ficus‐Machilus zone; Engelhardia roxburghiana‐Castanopsis cuspidata var. carlesii type on Machilus‐Castanopsis zone; Rhododendron formosanum type and Pasania kawakamii‐Machilus thunbergii type on Quercus lower zone; Chamaecyparis obtusa var. formosana—Rhododendron formosanum type, Fagus hayatae type, Symplocos arisanensis‐Illicium anisatum type on Quercus upper zone; Tsuga chinensis var. formosana and Pinus taiwanensis type on Tsuga‐Picea zone; Abies kawakamii type on Abies zone.

经TWINSPAN分析及参考DCA结果，可将植物社会区分为6个植群带10个植群型，分别为榕楠林带的茄冬‐大叶楠型；楠槠林带的黄杞‐长尾尖叶槠型；栎林带下层的台湾杜鹃型、大叶石栎‐猪脚楠型；栎林带上层的台湾扁柏‐台湾杜鹃型、台湾水青冈型及阿里山灰木‐白花八角型；铁杉‐云杉林带的台湾铁杉型、台湾二叶松型；冷杉林带的台湾冷杉型。
