The results showed that the heavy metals in various mediums were mainly Cu and Ni, and those concentrations were, in the descending order, in ditch, tailings, slagheap and cultivated soil. In the tailings and the sludge of the ditch, the concentrations of Ni were obviously higher than those of Cu. Whereas, in the soil and the weathering and atmospheric deposition of the waste slagheap surface, the concentrations of Cu were higher than those of Ni. This means that in the first two mediums, Cu and Ni mainly originated from the tailings, while in the latter two mediums, Cu and Ni mainly came from the atmospheric deposition of airborne particles of the smelting. Cr and Zn were mainly in residual fraction, Cu was mainly in oxidizable and residual fraction.

By the simulated test, utilizing 7 kinds of physical adsorbents (zeolite, incineration ashes, slag, plant ash, charcoal, ochre, active carbon), 4 kinds of chemical flocculant FeSO_4, AlCl_3, FeCl_3, Al_2(SO_4_3, and 3 kinds of hyclrophytes, we carried through the pollution removing study of heavy metal in landfill leachate and discussed removing effect of different physical adsorbents, chemical flocculant and hyclrophytes.

At the heavy metal concentration of 3-4ppm, our study on adsorption capacity, adsorption selectivity of montmorillonite, illite and kaolinite to Cu〓、 Pb〓、 Zn〓、 Cd〓、 Cr〓 shows that the adsorption capacity is mainly determined by the capacity of exchangeable cations and the adsorption capacity of the three clay minerals decreases in this sequence: montmorillonite >> illite>kaolinite. It is found that clay minerals have obvious adsorption selectivity to various heavy metals. Montmorillonite exhibits a stronger affinity to Cr〓 and Cu〓 while kaolinite and illite sorb Cr〓 and Pb〓 more effectively. At the same heavy metal concentration, adsorption amount of clay minerals to heavy metals increase with increasing pH value of the solution.
