该方法根据原水水质和生物滤池内部细菌数量的变化以及反冲洗出水的水质，将生物滤池工作周期中反冲洗阶段的反冲洗出水收集并沉淀，将其含有大量活性细菌和溶解性营养元素的上清液回流至生物滤池，下层含有不溶性营养物质的沉淀全部或部分回流至生物滤池，被生物滤池当中的大量存在的微生物重新利用，从而补充在低营养基质条件下，微生物生长、增殖和新陈代谢所必需的营养基质，维持生物滤池当中的生态稳定。
