A total of 21 isolates of soil dematiaceous hyphomycetes belonging to 15 species in 11 genera were obtained from 20 soil samples from Changtang Steppe in northern Tibet. Among them, Phialophora tibetensis is a new species; Phialophora melinii and Scopulariopsis fusca are new records for China.

We used 24 colonies of C. formosanus from Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Anhui, and Zhejiang provinces to study the relations between the inter-colony agonistic behavior and the greeting behavior, or the secretion of frontal gland, gnathal gland and abdominal gland, the compounds of body wall, the genetic background, the contents of microelement and protein in body, the food kinds, the microorgansim in intestinal cavity, the season change, the colony age, and the colony individuals quantity.

Methods: The following five sites in the city were selected as monitoring spots, namely, the First Smelter of Tongling Nonferrous Metal Group, the second Smelter of Tongling Nonferrous Metal Group, the Changjiang High-speed Passageway, Fenghuangshan Copper Mine district, residential area, respectively. The moss species Hypnum plumaeform e collected from Huangshan mountain was placed in nylon bag of 15.5 cm×5.5 cm in size and 2.0 mm×2.0 mm in meshes, with each bag having 3 g moss and then sealed by a nylon wire. Moss bags were suspended in five urban exposure sites and then gathered after two months. The content of heavy metal in the tested moss were analysed by atomic absorption spectroscopy.
