Determination of functional components in foods and Chinese herbs as well as evaluation of biological activity – Both foods and Chinese herbs investigated include soybean, Ziziphus jujuba , Lycium barbarum , Gynostemma pentaphyllum , Taraxacum formosanum , Rhinacanthus nasutus , Scutellaria barbata , etc. Functional components investigated include carotenoid, chlorophyll, flavonoid, phenolic acid, polysaccharide, saponin, isoflavone, etc. In my lab we have developed many LC-MS methods for determination of these components and proved their antiproliferation effect on cancer cells and anti-inflammatory activity.
