With the elastic theory, the formula for calculating the maximum and minimum drilling fluid density that would cause the initial shear fracture in vertical and inclined borehole is derived and the influence of formation non-linear deformation property is taken into account. The solution of the formula is given by iteration method.

The methods for enhance the performance of multiplier are analyzed first, including Booth algorithm, Baugh-Wooley algorithm for direct 2's complement multiplication and the way for sign extension prevention when using Booth algorithm. Then the multiplier for both fixed-point and floating-point operation is designed. Finally the iteration algorithm for floating-point division is presented.
