The reasoning behind this is as follows: in this world,Nothing is as dear to someone as his or her own life,So no greater crime is there than taking life away,Than the act of saving beings and ransoming their lives.

放生如此重要的原因是：在这个世界上，对一个人最重要的无非是他/她自己的生命，所以最大的罪恶不过于夺走他人的生命，而无条件的美德带来更伟大的慈悲无过于救赎他们的生命。
