The floating gates, which have a hollow cavity inside, work according to Archimedes' principle of buoyancy. When compressed air is pumped in, emptying the gates of water, the buoyancy of the giant panels will be greater than their weight, and in just 30 minutes the barrier will float above the surface. The gates are attached to the seabed with hinges, which are designed to absorb the force of waves and keep the barrier in place. The gates will only be raised when waves are higher than 1.1 meters, to reduce interruption of the sea currents to a minimum.

13 The king also desecrated the high places that were east of Jerusalem on the south of the Hill of Corruption--the ones Solomon king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the vile goddess of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the vile god of Moab, and for Molech the detestable god of the people of Ammon.
