Methods: 48 casted Ni-Cr alloy metal specimens (12.0 mm×1.0 mm) were fabricated with ShoFu Vintage Halo porcelain and divided into six groups , eight pieces for each group. They were polished against 200-, 400-, 600-, 800-, and 1,000-grit sandpaper after body porcelain sintered, respectively. The specimens in a sixth group not polished was used as control. Surface roughness and Color parameters of the specimens were measured with a Surface Roughometer EX2154-13 and a spectrocolorimeter respectively.

The experiment results indicate that a hardened layer is obtained on the surface of the materials after two kinds of surface hardening. Microstructure of the hardened layer is fine spiculate martensite which can help to improve the wear and friction properties of the materials.

The native oxides on CdSe surface could be reduced to elemental Selenium by a HF etching process. Bombardment using 100eV Ar〓 ions with a dosage of about 1×10〓 ions/cm〓 could remove all the elemental Selenium, which results in a normal stoichiometrical surface CdSe.
