The seabuckthorn carpenter moth, Holcocerus hippophaecolus Hua, Chou, Fang et Chen is recently a major pest of seabuckthorn in Inner Mongolia Autonomous region, Liaoning, Shanxi, Ningxia and Shaanxi provinces in China. The generation time of H. hippophaecolus is four years. The larvae cause damage primarily to the stems and roots of seabuckthorn, and the mature larvae pupate in soil.

沙棘木蠹蛾(Holcocerus hippophaecolus Hua， Chou ， Fang et Chen)是近几年在内蒙古、辽宁、山西、宁夏和陕西等地大面积爆发的一种钻蛀性害虫，该虫约4a完成1代，主要以幼虫危害沙棘的根部和干部，老熟幼虫在土壤中化蛹。

Four sorts of sex pheromones that were mixed at different ratios with three kinds of main sex pheromone components of seabuckthorn carpenter moth:-7-tetradecenyl acetate (Z7-14:Ac),-3-tetradecenyl acetate (E3-14:Ac) and-7-tetradecenyl acetate (E7-14:Ac), were experimented in the field. The results showed that four kinds of pheromones all had strong, attractive effects on male moths.
