荒芜

The inventor of the modern thesaurus (Roget's Thesaurus has sold 40 million copies since its initial publication a century and a half ago), Roget turned his passion for order and the correct use of language into a tool for maintaining his own precarious mental health and in the process created a masterpiece that has irrevocably altered the English language (Sylvia Plath said that if she could only take one book to a desert island, she would take Roget's Thesaurus).
