By awarding the 2008 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought to Hu Jia, the European Parliament has added its expression of concern and support for human rights in China, and given affirmation to the Chinese human rights defenders' work and their struggle.

欧洲议会也以把2008年度萨哈洛夫思想自由奖颁给胡佳的方式，表达了对中国人权的关注与支持，表达了对中国维权人士的努力和奋斗的肯定。
