Self-torture is a mental illness, which deserves no worship. It's just slow self-destruction, but we have support such slow-destruction for ages. The idea has deeply rooted in our mind, which thinks body and spirit are mutual enemies. The more you torture your body, the more spiritual you will be. The more joy and love you permit your body to enjoy, the weaker your spirit will be. The split of body and spirit is the most essential reason why laughter disappears from humans' life.
