The study's findings indicate: the unconfined compressive strength of red sandstone is mainly lined with compaction rate, pore distribution and condition of being linked with grains and the above factors have a more notable impact on its unconfined compressive strength; grains' area ratio and Euler number decrease as a whole, pores' directionality gradually increases, stability of its internal structure reduces.

With consideration of various analysis methods for reinforced embankment, the model of homogeneous earth slope is setup on the base of Finite Element Method. Using ANSYS-APDL language, the nonlinear finite element program for static analysis of the high reinforced embankments is made in this paper.

LES cooperated with the second order full extension ETG finite element method is applied to simulate three typical problems concerned with convection heat transfer with sufficient experimental data.
