The strength of rock material has the characteristics of random distribution. Combined with Mohr′s criteria, theory result is acquired to analyse the variation in strength of rock material by use of damage mechanics. By comparing this theory result with a group of experiment data on Carrara marble, it is shown that the damage mechanics model is suitable for describing the constitute property of rock material.
