Carbonyl reductase is a monomeric oxidoreductase that catalyzes the NADPHdependant reduction of a variety of quinones, ketones, and aldehydes. It is widely distributed in the cytoplasm of various tissues of mammalian and non-mammalian species, and is involved in detoxification, physical regulation, as well as in drug metabolism.
