There is much difference between the stress ratio in crown and springe calculated with these two methods. In the crown, most external forces changing into horizontal forces leads to the large decrease of the vertical tension stress. The vertical distribution pattern of the axial forces in the arch and soil pressure is not the same. And near the bottom of the pit the axial tension stress appears.
