Excessive aggradation of extracellular matrix in the liver is the pathologic characteristic of hepatic fibrosis.The development of liver fibrosis is a dynamical process which is mainly due to the activation of the hepatic stellate cells, including not only excessive synthesis of ECM, but also its deficient degradation.
