Methods The levels of triglyceride, cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinostiol, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylcholine, sphingomyelin, lysophosphatidylcholine, lipid peroxide and the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were investigated in 44 diabetic patients with DR, 20 diabetic patients with no DR and 30 sex and age matched normal control subjects.
