The basic principles of organic petrographical, organic geochemistry, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and the technology of micro-area and spectra analysis have been applied in the paper to study the Jurassic hydrocarbon source rock of the northern edge of Chaidamu basin. It also gives the hydrocarbon generation models of different kerogen types of the area.
