In the downstream, a sudden expansion microchannel with asymmetric pairs of microelectrodes is designed. The multi-electrodes are formed beside the expansion microchannel and result in the trap of micro-particles. AC electric potentials are applied to each pair of asymmetric electrodes creating a non-uniform electric field. The tangential component of the field produces a force on the induced charges in the diffused double layer.
