According to the basic information such as origin, agricultural characters of different germplasm, 444 representative domestic cultivars, belonging to 13 species or varieties, 7 genus of cucurbitaceae respectively, were selected as experimental materials to identify their resistance to root-knot nematode using the inoculation method of infected soil. The results of study on drought mechanism for 4 Dactylis glomerata L. under continuously water stress and rewatering show: the water saturation deficit of leaves arose hastily, and ZXY04P-239 changed most obviously while ZXY04P-201 changed only slightly under drought stress. ZXY03P-173 and ZXY04P-201 increased in the relative plasmalemma permeability and the soluble sugar content while thant of ZXY04P-75 and ZXY04P-239 showed the trend of initial increasing, reaching the peak at the 8th day, then decreasing under drought stress.

Basing on our early stage research work about collection and description of sugarcane germplasm and the aided project of Yunnan Natural Science Fund (2001 C0015Q), the wild species Erianthus fulvus, which has good characters, cold-resistant, drought-resistant, higher Brix and less chromosome number, was utilized for the first time through intergeneric hybridization with sugarcane cultivar. Its F_1 hybrids were appraised with some new techniques and methods for germplasm enhancement.
