Sol–gel/diaminobenzoic acid hybrid materials were also generated to be used as the MALDI matrices for the analysis of oligonucleotides. It is because that DABAs have good molar absorptivity at wavelength of 337 nm. Furthermore, two amino functional groups attached to the aromatic ring in DABAs can also suppress the cation adductions of oligonucleotides and leave the protons to the oligonucleotides during MALDI-MS analysis. This matrix system can be used as an alternative for the analysis of oligonucleotides.

本论文也利用双胺基苯甲酸与溶胶凝胶混成产物当做MALDI基质来分析DNA分子，利用双胺基苯甲酸本身具有吸收雷射的特性，且其含胺之官能基可和钠、钾离子竞争DNA上磷酸根的负离子结合部位，因此可和DNA有较强的亲合力，而在脱附游离的过程中并可转移质子给磷酸根，可有效降低盐类的干扰，此一基质系统可取代传统MALDI基质混合胺盐的效果，适合用於DNA样品的分析。
