Substrate specificity of D-hydantoinase on various hydantoin derivatives showed the optimal substrate of D-hydantoinase was 5-phenylhydantoin, but hydantoin, 5-methylthioehylhydantoin, 5-hydroxyphenylhydantoin, 5-methylhydantoin, 5-benzylhydantoin could also be hydrolyzed by D-hydantoinase.
