研究内容包括：原始阔叶红松林及其不同演替阶段的次生林中细根的生长和周转、分解与分布的特征，阐明在不同演替阶段细根的变化；原始阔叶红松林及其不同演替阶段的次生林中细根对根系、土壤和林地地下的碳、氮贮量的影响，分析在不同演替阶段细根周转对地下碳、氮贮量的贡献；以及对不同垂直海拔高度分布的不同类型的原始森林中细根和根系生物量的变化，及细根对根系、土壤和林地地下碳、氮贮量的贡献进行了研究。
