On the basis of corpus linguistics approach and contrastive interlanguage analysis,this study analyses concordances of the adverbial connector "however" and its Chinese equivalents taken from three different corpora and presents in detail the description of the characteristics of the use of the word by the Chinese EFL learners and native English speakers.

通过语料库语言学和中介语对比分析的研究方法，在对规模共40多万词次的3个中、英文语料库中的连接副词however及其汉语对应词检索结果进行对比分析和归纳后，对中国英语学习者和英语本族语者使用该词的特点做了较为详尽的描述，从而提供了一个运用语料库方法来研究词的使用范例。

Firstly, prosodic boundaries of 1991 common sentences were labeled based on speech perception experiment, relation between prosodic structure and syntactic structure was examined after immediate constituent analysis, an example of prosodic phrasing from text sentences was provided using CART. Then, using designed sentences, phenomena of downstep and declination in pitch downtrend of Chinese declarative sentences were examined, commonness and speciality of Chinese intonation were discussed.
