In 1935, Wumahuji Hidasisi found the stone knife and zax in Puli basin, Wujie and its upstream area. In October, 1980, Mr. Chen, the professor of the Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica, also found stone tools and pieces of pottery on high level river terrace which is around 1 or 2 km away in the north of Ciyu Bing Tribe. High level river terrace is the first place where relics were dug. Bunnan people call here "Jie Yuan".

早在1935年时，日本人马渊东氏在埔里盆地至武界及其上游一带，即有发现一些石刀、石斧；1980年10月，中央研究院历史语言研究所考古教授陈仲玉先生，於曲冰部落北方约一、二公里处的高位河阶上，发现具考古价值的史前石器与陶片，这里也是最早进行挖掘之处，布农族人称其为「姊源」。
