MLP is a new parameter suggested in this paper. It is better than diversity index to the harm extent, and it can indicate some information on not only the under story plant species diversity but the forest environment. Using the four key factors a multiphase linear regression model was made for risk analysis of the harm extent of pine caterpillar.
