Methods The cytotoxic effects of the four kind extracts of Livistona chinesis on two tumor cell lines cultured in vitro were tested by MTT assay.

The tumor cell lines were HepG2 and HL60. Results The extracts of Livistona chinesis induced significant growth arrested in two malignant tumor cell lines which cultured in vitro.

结果 蒲葵子提取物的各萃取部位在体外对肝癌细胞HepG2和白血病细胞HL60有明显的抑制作用，正丁醇部位的半数抑制率分别为7.94和10.72，效果最为显著。

IC50 of these cells exposed to the extracts from N-butanol for 48 hours approach 7.94% and 10.72%. Conclusion The N-butanol extracts of Livistona chinesis had obvious anti-tumor activity in vitro.
