根据有无尿微量白蛋白及尿蛋白水平将糖尿病患者分为3组，并将所有患者按国际公认诊断标准分为冠心病组、高血压组、脑血管病变组，下肢动脉硬化病变组。

进一步研究发现主要是降低肾小球性尿蛋白(尿微量白蛋白、尿IgG)，对肾小管性尿蛋白(尿α_1-M)无改善作用。
