Results showed that all leaves consisted of epidermis, chlorenchyma, aquiferous tissue and vascular bundles. The leaves had the xeromorphic characteristics, including thickened epidermal cell wall, thickened cuticle, sunken stomata and well_developed aquiferous tissue. With the exception of this, there were remarkable differences in leaf structure among the six species.

Result Among the 1st principal components, the positive weight value of chest diameter was greatest and it was the eigenvector with greatest influence on the 1st principal components. Among the 2nd principal components, the character loading value of leaf-lobed width and the positive weight values of angle between leafstalk and its branch and leaf-shape index were greater. Among the 3rd principal components, the positive weight values of leaf number, branch length, branch thickness and developed degree of crown size of 1 year old branches were greater.

The results are as follows:(1) The morphological investigation indicated that the nectaries werelacked on the main nervation, calyx and bract of cotton line 97014 comparedwith TM-1. Alveolate hollow was absent at main nervation of the mature leaf.Results of cytological analysis showed that 97014 lacked nectariferous structure.Where nectary inserted were parenchyma cells, cupped structure and brownnectariferous substance on the lower epidermis were not found.
