In this study, the glasses were prepared from reagent-gade chemicals Mg2, CaCO3, BaCO3 ,Al2O3, and 9wt% ZrO2 which acts as nucleating agent, by quenching method. The glass-ceramics, which are transmitting in the middle IR region and have improved mechanical strength, were made from the parent glass via suitable crystallization heat-treatment.
