Results show that during the snowstorm disaster, under the large scale background with "trough in south and ridge in north", strong cold air caused by prevailing northerly wind in northern Asia wedged into low level atmosphere over Southeast China and formed a "clod cushion". At the same time, warm-wet air was also transported to Southeast China by southerly wind. The vertical shear of winds from cold to warm airflows produced strong upward motion and then, the warm-wet air over the cold air wedge was driven to rise. Finally, the structure of "warm cover" and "cold cushion", as well as corresponding vertical circulation over the converging frontal zone came into being.

研究结果表明，灾害发生期间，中国北方中低层大气盛行偏北气流，使较强的偏北冷空气"楔入"中国东南部低层大气，构成低层"冷垫"，同时偏南暖湿气流源源不断地将大量水汽输送到中国东南部，冷暖气流交汇及其垂直切变导致强烈的上升运动，构成了"冷垫"上空的"暖盖"及"南槽北脊"反位相环流汇合锋区的垂直环流结构。

The approximate structure of nonlinear action of climatic atmosphere and ocean is: the nonlinear action decreases usually with increasing latitude, which is related to the role of the Coriolis force in fluid motion; the nonlinear action changes with the anomalous cyclonic or anticyclonic circulation shear, for instance, when the strength of anomalous eastward zonal circulation is comparable to that of anomalous meridional circulation, the nonlinear action is the strongest; wind stress plus gradient forces enhance the nonlinear action, etc..

气候海洋与大气非线性作用的大致结构是：通常与科里奥利力对流体运动的规范作用有关，非线性作用随纬度增加而减弱。距平流场的切变结构及其沿经向与纬向上强度的比较直接改变气候大气和海洋的非线性作用(比如，向东的距平环流强度与经向环流强度相当时，非线性作用最强)，较强的外部驱动使非线性作用加大等等。

On one hand, it changes the distribution of meridional wind, thus the geostrophic vortivity develops in the ridge region on the south of the subtropical high at 500 hPa. On the other hand, it causes inhomogeneity of the vertical distribution of diabetic heating, triggering anomalous cyclonic circulation between two ridges and anticyclonic circulation in the ridge region on the south.

这一方面改变了经向风的分布，使500 hPa副高南侧脊线区域地转涡度平流项发展；另一方面引起非绝热加热垂直分布不均匀，在两脊线之间诱生一异常气旋性环流，在南侧脊线区生成异常反气旋环流。

The conditional symmetry instability is the intermediate process between the stable and instable states of the atmosphere. The evolution of the atmosphere from the stable to unstable state or from unstable to stable state comes through two stages. The convective-symmetric instability circulation is related with the state and type of the instability. When the conditional instability lies in the lower level and conditional symmetric instability in the upper level, the circulation will have vertical updrafts in the lower level and slantwise updrafts in the upper level. The release of conditional symmetric instability gives rise to a mesoscale rain belt.

结果表明：条件对称不稳定是大气稳定状态和条件不稳定状态之间的中间纽带，大气由稳定向不稳定或者由不稳定向稳定的演变均通过条件对称不稳定来实现；对流对称不稳定环流的形成与不稳定层的配置有关，当低层为条件不稳定而高层叠加深厚的条件对称不稳定时，对流对称不稳定环流低层出现垂直上升气流，高层出现范围较广的倾斜上升气流，对称不稳定能量释放产生中尺度云带。
