The age of adakitic dacite is about 514.2±8.5 Ma, and the age of eclogite from the northern margin of Qaidam basin is 494.6±6.5 Ma. Therefore, it is considered that the slab started its subduction in Late Cambrian, that the adakitic magma was formed at the subduction depth of about 75~85 km, and that the partial melting residues with garnet facies continued subducting and finally formed eclogite in Early Ordovician.

Optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction analysis have revealed that dawsonite mainly occur in the feldspar-rich sandstone and pyroclastic rocks, either as cements filling inter-grain pores as radical, bunchy, rosette, intricately trichoid, and platy collectives, or as replacement of feldspar and lithic grains with bunchy and paty shapes.

Important advance are made in the date of slices and superslices:(1) Abundant acritarch and a few radiolarian fossils are collected in the "barren strata" formed by epi-middle metamorphic slices at Gouli, Longshigenggongwu, thus provide data evidence for this set of strata. A series of isotopic dating data (14) showed that the date are between 1 000 Ma and 500 Ma, close to that of the fossils.

Supracrustal sequences free of early strong deformation The early deformation of Jingangku formation complex of Hengshan Wutai group complex has formed a bedding parallel S〓 gneissic and schistosity, occasionally bedding parallel recumbent folds in layers. The early deformation of the near-horizontal ductile shearing isn't very strong in Wutai group complex. The orientation of shear movement is NNW—SSE.

The orogenic strata have following characteristics: During the subduction and intracontinental orogeny, the strata experienced dramatic tectonic migration and mixing, resulting in various tectonic features. A short sequence usually composed of tectonic slices of various origins, times, deformations and metamorphisms, and scales. The original sequence was badly destroyed. The extant fragments of orogenic belt usually took form as melanges, especially the accretion complex wedge generated in subduction zone, which is contrary to the Law of Superposition. The original location of the accretion is also contradicted with the Law of Original Horizonality, because the accretion is oblique with high degree. Marine rocks, volcanic rocks of continental margin and metamorphic rocks were well-developed in the orogenic belt, especially ultra-basic, basic rocks were wide spread and were intensely metamorphosed, accompanied by metamorphic slices returned from hundred kilometers underground with ultra-high pressure and magma movements during syn-orogeny and post-orogeny, thus formed the colorful landscapes.
