Analyses of the relationship among strength factor, structure and reservoir permeability show that the high permeability zones of the No.3 coal seam in the Shanxi Formation of CBM development blocks in the southern Qinshui Basin commonly occur in the fold axial region with a low strength factor and relatively strong deformation of rock mass, especially the superimposition region of multistage fold axes, where strong deformation resulting in welldeveloped fractures in coal seams.
