In this paper, the author makes a thorough research on router operating and maintenance system. First the OAM designed requirements and evolutions are introduced. Then the author presents the high performance multi-protocol router architecture and OAM function requirements, which is developed by Tsinghua University, and designs and imptements the router operating and maintenance system for distributed architecture in detail.
