The tension stress distribution of the aerostat envelope under windless condition is obtained using the FE model, and critical regions with high stress are pointed out. The calculated value of tethering force fits well with the theoretical one. The results are instructive for the safety evaluation and design of aerostat structures.

A finite element model is proposed to calculate the mechanical state of a moored aerostat system. The difficulty in matching the loads of the tethers is overcome by releasing the tether constraints and applying the load step by step.
