In compliance with the objective route of historical development, and based on time and its contents, forest tourism culture in Zhejiang are divided into four periods: formation period, development period, prosperity period, and approaching modern times period; based on its representation of characteristics, it can be divided into origin and transition period, classifying and humanizing landscape and fusing forest period, enjoying and appreciating landscape and the climax of forest period, sight-seeing, exploring landscape and the science of forest period.

本论文应用历史研究的方法，从深入挖掘、系统整理史迹材料着眼，分析研究浙江森林旅游文化的渊源和流变，遵从历史发展的客观线索，按时间和内容将其分为形成期、发展期、繁荣期、走向近代的浙江森林旅游文化等四个时期；按其特征表现分为起源和过度期，归宿、"人化"山水和森林融合期，游览、欣赏山水和森林高潮期，观赏、探索山水和森林科学期等。
