The distribution of organic matter in sediments is heterogeneous. To study OM enrichment mechanism and interaction of organic matter with inorganic minerals in argillaceous sediments, we employed size grading, microscope, X-ray diffraction and gas chromatography to obtain information on OM and minerals.

The worldwide 8.2 ka event is also well recorded in the core.
