Mr. Shamaragwe is referring to the Community Nutrition Program, an on-going joint project between UNICEF, local authorities and residents. Over half of Rwandan households are prone to food shortages caused by unprecedented problems like fluctuating global food prices and natural disasters. The program aims to educate the people about proper nutrition by helping them establish their own household gardens - and thus increasing overall land cultivation.
