A kettle is a steep-sided, usually basin- or bowl-shaped hole or depression without surface drainage in glacial-drift deposits, often containing a lake or swamp, and believed to have formed by the melting of a large, detached block of stagnant ice (left behind by a retreating glacier) that had been wholly or partly buried in the glacial drift.

The main contents of the present paper include: 1、The mechanism of fouling accumulation and the effects of fouling and slagging on boiler performance are analyzed. The model of fouling increasing is developed on the basis of sediment rate and denudation rate. The fouling monitoring models for boiler furnace and convective sections based on heat balance, the ones for air heater based on converted pressure difference are given. The implement results show that these models can reveal the cleanliness of boiler heat transfer surface. 2、The disadvantages of the model for boiler furnace fouling and slagging monitoring based on heat balance are discussed, and the calculation of radiant heat flux is considered as the primary difficulty.

In this dissertation, based on glass microspheres and submicron silicon dioxide, the silver-coated core-shell shielding particles were prepared by liquid phase chemical deposition and layer by layer packing technology. The influences of the preparation conditions on the structure of the synthesized core-shell particles were also systemically studied. The conclusions are enumerated as follow:(1) Monodispersed submicron silicon dioxide spheres in the size range of 250~550 nm are synthesized by Sol-Gel method using ammonia as catalyst.
