实验结果表明，进水速度为2.72 BV时，通入氨氮浓度为50 mg·L-1的模拟废水和98 mg·L-1的工业废水，此时穿透点分别为C/C0=0.3和0.15时，得到天然沸石柱可处理水量分别为126 BV、43 BV；改性后沸石柱可处理水量分别为157 BV、46 BV，且随水力负荷增大，沸石柱可处理水量减小；试验还发现对泄露后沸石用8%NaCl溶液解吸再生效果好，成本低，再生后的沸石吸附容量变小；试验通过动力学分析发现沸石柱吸附氨氮速度较快。
