比丘

In this Buddha Land, he would receive those followers who faithfully chanted the nembutsu (known in Sanskrit as narno amitabha- buddhaya and in Japanese as namu amida butsu and in Chinese as namo amitofo), a petition to the Amitabha Buddha, of whom Dharmakara would be the first incarnation, for salvation and rebirth into his Buddha Land, known as the Pure Land.

在此佛土，他将接引一切至心虔诚的念佛(梵语中的&南无阿弥塔巴佛陀耶&。口语中的&南莫阿弥达补至&，汉语中的&南无阿弥陀佛&)者，一切向阿弥陀佛祈愿的人。法藏比丘将是阿弥陀佛土的第一个化生者。他为救度世人而再生于彼的国土就称作净土。

He who neither goes too far nor lags behind,greedless he knows:"This is all unreal,"— such a monk gives up the here and the beyond,just as a serpent sheds its worn-out skin.

他即不往前赶，也不往后退；他知道一切虚妄而摆脱贪欲，这样的比丘抛弃此岸与彼岸，犹如蛇蜕去衰老的皮。

There is, O monks, an Unborn, an Unbecome, a Not-made, an Incomposite.

比丘们啊，有不生，不来，无作，无和合。

The brahmin householders of Nagaravinda heard:「 The recluse Gotama, the son of the Sakyans who went forth from a Sakyan clan, has been wandering in the Kosalan country with a large Sangha of bhikkhus and has come to Nagaravinda.

奈迦罗频头城的婆罗门在家长者们这样听说：「家行者---释迦子---乔达摩，与他的比丘大僧团正在拘萨罗国游化，而且巳经来到奈迦罗城。

The brahmin householders of Nagaravinda heard:「The recluse Gotama, the son of the Sakyans who went forth from a Sakyan clan, has been wandering in the Kosalan country with a large Sangha of bhikkhus and has come to Nagaravinda.

奈迦罗频头城的婆罗门在家长者们这样听说：「出家行者---释迦子---乔达摩，与他的比丘大僧团正在拘萨罗国游化，而且巳经来到奈迦罗城。

Just as kusa grass wrongly handled cuts the hand, even so, a recluse's life wrongly lived drags one to states of woe.

如同不握好古沙草就会割伤手，胡乱的出家生活拖该比丘入地狱。

Even though he be well-attired, yet if he is posed, calm, controlled and established in the holy life, having set aside violence towards all beings — he, truly, is a holy man, a renunciate, a monk.

虽有庄严其身，若他是平静的、脱离了烦恼、制伏了诸根、拥有道智、完全清净及舍弃了对一切众生的嗔恨，那么，他的确是婆罗门，是沙门，是比丘。

Which, monks, is the Nirvana-element with the basis of sensate existence still remaining?

比丘们，哪个是知觉仍存在为基础的涅磐元素呢？

It is his destruction of Greed, Anger and Delusion, monks, that is called the Nirvana-element with the basis of sensate existence still remaining.

是在他的贪。嗔。痴的毁灭，比丘们，被称作知觉仍存在为基础的涅磐元素。

Addressing the congregation of monks, the Happy One, the Arhat, continued, saying:"There are, O monks, two "Nirvana-elements, namely, the Nirvana-element with the basis of sensate existence still remaining and the Nirvana-element without the basis of sensate existence remaining.

快乐者，阿罗汉，接着为僧团演说道：比丘们啊，两个涅磐元素，即知觉仍存在为基础的涅磐元素和无知觉存在基础的涅磐元素。
