Lo is an active recitalist and an enthusiastic opera educator. He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts with distinction, and received his Master's and Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, where he was a full-scholarship recipient.
