Results Six compounds were isolated from the ethanol extracts of Acrostichum aureurm,and their structures were elucidated as ponasterone A(1),pterosterone(2),kaempferol(3),quercetin(4),4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-2-butanone(5),and daucosterol(6),respectively.

As antioxidants, the vitamin E or quercetin (10μg/mL) significantly attenuated the toxic effects of PCBs on the cultured hepatocytes.
