I read Claus Sendlingers editorial in Choupana Hills, a Design Hotel in Madeira that makes no special claim to greenness, though its light bulbs are low-energy, its toiletries come in recycled packaging and its decor involves products from the island: basalt and wickerwork from the nearby village of Camacha, one of the many local industries tangentially dependent on tourism.
