The 1955/56 season saw Blues enjoy their best season to date in Division One finishing sixth place and reaching the F.A. Cup Final, losing 3-1 to Manchester City at Wembley. On 15th May 1956, Blues became the first English league club to play in Europe when they drew 0-0 away at Internazionale. In 1960 Blues reached the Fairs Cup Final, losing to Barcelona 4-1 on aggregate. Blues' F.A. Cup tie with Bury during the 1962-63 season was postponed no fewer then 14 times.
